EXPERIENCE THE STORY OF FOOD, THROUGH THE SENSES.

DINE BETWEEN THE COWS, IN A GREENHOUSE OR A MILL.
For me, tasting food is hearing a story. Each flavour tells the story – about seasons & landscapes, about farmers, about history, culture & emotion. Experiencing flavours and their stories creates and rebuilds connections between consumers, producers and the land.
‘De Tuinders Tafel’ - meaning 'The Gardener's Table' – started from my own vegetable patch, where the colors, smells, sounds and tastes inspired me to share the story of food through the senses. Roaming and learning from dairy & grain farmers to butchers & bakers, witnessing both conventional & regenerative agriculture, I realized I had many unknown stories to share with you. And that is how ‘De Tuinders Tafel’ - culinary experiences connecting consumers & producers- came to be.

I am Tessa Brandsma and as a culinary anthropologist specialized in agriculture and food- systems, I always look for meaning in peoples relationships with each other and nature. Food and taste is a powerful tool to understand farming, cooking, crafting and consuming. It is a universal language which tells me much more than only that what is visible on the outside- it tells a story of people & land, of what it means to nourish the other, the soil & ourselves.
